The Northumberland Badminton Association is piloting a brand-new junior badminton league aimed at increasing the number of juniors playing competitively.

Following discussions between the NBA and Tyneside Badminton Centre, the brand-new junior badminton league began on Sunday 20th November and of course the Sharks were there.

After a successful relaunch this summer, the Tyneside Sharks Badminton Club have entered two teams into the league.

We are extremely proud of the Sharks and so impressed with their performance at the first tournament day of the season.

The Reivers League was devised with the aim of providing an opportunity for junior club players at grassroots level to experience competition in a relaxed and supportive environment, after identifying a lack of competitive junior badminton opportunity, specifically for non-county players.

Mike Woodward, Director of Tyneside Badminton Centre, said: “We are thrilled to see the Reivers League finally come to life.”

“The league is going to play a crucial role in increasing the number of juniors playing competitive badminton, as well as creating a pathway to high levels of junior badminton and senior clubs.”

You can find the results from the first tournament day of the season below.
